Zachary Waterfield Biography
Zachary Waterfield grew up hunting the Eastern hardwoods of Virginia as well as North Carolina alongside his Father and Uncle (who was a former Virginia State Game Warden). Though primarily a firearms hunter, he did finally come around to archery hunting in early adulthood.
Zach started off as an EMT his Senior year of High School and right after joined the US Navy. His specialties were in Trauma / Emergency medicine, Intensive care, and Labor & delivery / Mother-Baby. During his service he was able to become a TCC Instructor/Provider as well as earning his Expeditionary Warfare Specialist as a Navy Corpsman. He received his Certified Veterinary Assistant with honors from Ashworth College and has worked with various animal trainers over the years. He is married to a Navy Nurse that is still serving with a list of medical specialties of her own outside of general nursing.
Soon after being medically separated from the Navy with an Honorable discharge, he dove headfirst into archery in the pursuit of the “why” questions. He opened his archery shop (W&K Archery) in 2014 while stationed in Maryland. He has had the opportunity to work with archers as a technician, personal coach and NASP instructor in various States as well as Guam over the years. At the same time as opening his shop, he started working for Ethics Archery, starting off as a Field staff member and eventually becoming the CMO. During that time, he was blessed with the opportunity to work with customers all over the world recommending arrow components, hunting setups and medical knowledge of game animals while gathering information based on success and failures of his own doing or by copious amounts of data collected over the years from others.
Zach enjoys hunting (primarily with archery equipment) both public and private land as well as testing anything archery related still in the pursuit of answering the “why” questions. He has had success in taking game animals in VA, MD, NC, TX, PA, and Guam. His real passion is teaching others the basics of archery and certifying groups like the Scouts and those similar. He emphasizes the phrase “Trust but Verify” which has led to a hefty investment in archery testing equipment over the years.
